MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK...

Thanks for all the lovely comments on my blog last week - I'm sorry that I didn't manage to do return visits to everyone. Will try harder this time!

Well, I don't honestly know where to start.....only kidding, I know many of you want to see pics of Margaret Glitter&Glue's visit :-D  We had a lovely time, Margaret is so lovely, easy to get on with and funny...we chatted a lot, had some laughs and she was so helpful with breaking me in to card making!

This is Margaret last Wednesday evening, helping me sort out the amazing stash that had been sent to me by Shaz Silverwolf, Annie C and Crafting Queen...it was less daunting once things were sorted!

There - that's better!

Thursday morning... and after a failed attempt at taking Margaret for a beach walk (far too windy and rainy!) we settled down to a card making lesson for me, whilst waiting for Ali to turn up. I think you can tell that I'm not finding this easy! But I had a very good and patient teacher....

..and once I got into it, I rather enjoyed it. But as I was saying to Julia, it was just assembling stuff as opposed to the proper techniques of stamping/die cutting etc. I know that's a step too far for me.

I discovered the joys of vellum - I loved these flourishes and flowers Shaz, really floated my boat!

And before you knew it, I'd made four cards.....

and then another four using bits from Crafting Queen and Annie's selection

I found matching the colours very easy, it's something I love doing, but the perils of double sided tape and teeny tiny pearls were taxing :-D

Margaret sat and just got on with it and before you say anything had made all these for my WI! She's so clever...

And then Ali turned up!!
It was lovely to meet someone who you've 'known' virtually for such a long time! Needless to say, after lunch, we got straight down to the onerous task of crafting and chatting...it's a hard life eh?!

Ali also very kindly bought me some useful supplies:

Papers, cardstock, card blanks, tapes and glues..so thoughtful Ali, thank you very much! I've already made inroads into it all!

It was interesting to hear about Ali's crafting and what she gets up to and her machine (I forget the name of it sorry) that she used for embossing looked like a little handbag with bling on! Very cute.

We had a lovely afternoon - there's nothing nicer than getting together with crafters!

Have a great week!!

what a great time - love the cards you made- you say it's just assembling bits - but they are very well assembled! It is still a knack, and you obviously have the knack! Lovely to "see" Margaret again and meet Ali! Helen #?

What a delight your post is. Made me smile from start to finish. Such is the result of friendship.
My, you did make some lovely cards, and I am sure you found Margaret to be the perfect teacher as she is so gentle and patient. Then along came Ali with her embossing machine and you no doubt had a lovely time with the addition of that. Embossing is a lovely technique and so simple.
I think we need to continue with making you into a paper crafter as well as your prowess with fabric and wool.
Love, Neet 2 xx

Hello Jan, what a lovely time you have had. The cards are gorgeous. There is a skill to assembling - choosing colours (as you said) but also what to put together and placement. You have all done a wonderful job. Anne x #21

Morning Jan! Well, what a couple of days we had - I SOOOOO enjoyed my time with you and G. Thanks so much! The journey to Ruth was great - even if as I went round the Oxford by-pass it did take me an hour and a half to do four miles!! - and the time with the family was lovely. So precious to see Em baptised!! You know your way to North Wales - any time you fancy a break... Great to see you have made more cards without us being with you. That's called growing in confidence!! Well done - you have a great way with colour and positioning the swirls and twirls.
Take care girl. God bless.

Happy WOYWW - hope you are keeping cosy inside away from this horrible weather. I really enjoyed our crafty get-together. I will think of a technique that I could introduce you to without having to bring most of my craftroom with me, and we must arrange a repeat meeting. Of course you (and any other Deskers) are welcome here any time, as long as we are not in Spain! Did you make hubby a card?? Ali x #30

Oh Jan I'm so envious! What fun you had! I agree - Margaret is so lovely. We did more chatting than crafting, though... What a lovely lot you got done together, and such beautiful results, too. There will be no stopping you now! Thank you for your visit and your lovely comment - so glad you like the Valentine card I made for my hubby - he was very pleased with it I'm glad to say! Not sure when I shall next get down to my secret project because I've got the craft show tomorrow and after that I shall probably be shattered!

Hi Jan, what an amazing lot of stash you were given, very blessed. And your cards may only be assembly, but the were beautifully done, and it won't be long before you are doing more detailed design yourself.
Thanks for visiting my desk, and yes we are very keen to get into our own place, if only so that I can have Margaret come and stay for some play days.

Happy Valentines Day! Look at you getting all card crafty!! They are lovely. And I had to laugh; I'll take stamping over assemblage any day! And as to your comment; yes, a spur of the moment "get 'er done" attitude does make things go smoothly. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!
