                                 I'M A LUMBERJACK AND I'M OK......

Another crazy week has whizzed past - two lots of visitors, our new patio began construction, band practises...I could go on but won't, suffice to say that a tiny, wee, small, little bit of crafting has been done.

Sorry, it's Christmas makings....I saw a pattern on Pinterest about wallets (sachets even, dunno the correct term) in which to put cutlery on the Christmas table. They look like small sleeping bags to me - possibly hamster sized?!  Very quick and easy to run up, they're for my WW class MacMillan cancer fundraising do on Thursday. Then my mate Helen suggested that napkin rings to match might be an idea and I knew there was a pattern in a book I already had....

So, this is what's next on the agenda - I bought the tartan quilting cotton recently and have really enjoying working with it. Gorgeous quality and worth every penny, I may well have to return and buy some more :-D

Some random pics from my week:

Bags of sand, cement and paving slabs were lobbed over my wall!

We went to a steam rally held in the Country Park where I live. It was a Grand Day Out with lots of fab engines, vintage vehicles and stalls to look at.

I was very taken with this scooter!  Lots of lights and...

Horns!! Bet they can blast out :-D I wonder if I could rig up a similar outfit to blow my tuba for me at band?? That would save me some puff, I tell you......

And crafting of any type is interesting, especially when there's an expert doing it:
Brilliant to watch, he made it look so easy! You can see the owl appearing out of the wood - I couldn't quite fit it in my backpack though ;-D

Only a couple of days to the Crop - I really must spend some time gathering some resources to bring and then ignore for the day!! Really looking forward to it now, woohoo!!

Love that tartan fabric and I think those sleeping bags are delightful - they will sell like hot cakes.
Interesting photos, love your wall! You seem to have moved to the best place on earth, there is so much for you to do and see - enjoy - but don't forget the crop.

Morning Jan. That fabric is stunning - and those cutlery sleeping bags are great. I have been known, in a moment of madness when I OBVIOUSLY didn't have enough to do, to fold paper serviettes into a similar shape and place the cutlery inside... Sad really, isn't it?. Would have loved to see a bag of cement being "lobbed" over the wall! As for the steam and scooter photos - wonderful. Blowing that lot makes me VERY grateful I am a pianist! Must get down to see you - and must definitely arrange it when there is a steam rally on...
Take care. travel safely. See you soon. God bless.

Oh Jan I do love wood carving in any form....my dad did some when he retired and it hangs very proudly in my sewing room. I've been brainstorming a lot lately (Christmas and doggy stuff) and thought I might have a go at something like your cutlery sleeping bags.
I've already sorted out my box of stuff to bring with me and plan to bring my dumfer as requested so you can have a go.
See you soon.....can't wait!

I love the idea of little pockets for Christmas cutlery, but the fact that you could recycle them for hamster sleeping bags is even better LOL! Good luck with the patio - looks like a big job with all those bags of building materials. The best way to get through a building job is to envisage it when it's ready - then you know it's all worth the upheaval. Have fun at the crop! zsuzsa #13

Hi Jan, What a nice idea for the Christmas table.

Hope your patio get's done quickly.

My dad use to like to take us to the various Steam Fairs and shows.

Have seen the chainsaw artists at the Sandringham shows.

Happy WOYWW. How useful that you could have the patio stuff chucked over the wall. We can just about get one of the farm machines down the gap between garage and house, so when we eventually get round to sorting out the garden (we even have the seed for the grass and wild flowers in the shed ready!) we don't need to do the hard work by hand. Will probably be next spring now - and we have been here over 4 years already! I always admire those people who put a lot of effort into decorating their Christmas table. I only go so far as putting out some of those battery 'candles' and using the posh glasses. Have a brilliant time this weekend. Rich is off to Pembrey for a mountain biking event - and I plan to be watching the F1 (we are going on holiday on Monday, so need some rest time before we travel) and going to a Harvest Service/Lunch at one of our local churches. You have such action packed weeks! Awesome photos! And who couldn't resist watching the owl emerge from the wood! I love the little cutlery pockets - would be perfect for a Christmas pot luck or buffet! Have a great week, and thanks for sharing! Lindart #29

Hi Jan, those little whatchamacallits are a great idea - they will look very festive on the table at Christmas. Love the tartan ... but then I would, wouldn't I? And the napkin holders are lovely too. I don't envy you the work going on but I'm sure the new patio will be worth it. The steam rally sounds like fun. I've watched a wood sculptor in action and what they do is awesome. Looking forward to seeing you again on Saturday - and I'm just thinking now of what crafty stuff to take just to ignore too. Love the look of those festive cutlery holders and matching napkin rings. Laughed out loud at the comment about the crop and resources at the end. I have a feeling it's going to be that kind of a day lol. See you Saturday. Sarah #30

I obviously didn't express myself too well, I'm not really missing my son, I am rather enjoying my freedom! A tiny bit of crafting more than me though. Nice wall, love the scooter but please let me have first choice of the lumberjack, sure he'd fit in my pocket! Swoon Thanks for the visit BJ#3
