MAE HEN WLAD FY NHADAU YN ANNWYL I MI...

Blimey, it's been a crazy week - even more than normal. A short (ish) post today as I'm out, so replies to comments will be tardy. The good news is that Julia is coming back to Wales with me for a couple of days - WOOHOO! I feel a visit to the Ginhaus is in order :-D

The JanCave desk is pretty much the same - still using up fabric squares to make masterboards... and they were cut out by this mob:

The WI ladies! We had a great two hours with lots of chat, tea and cake (great banana loaf, Helen!) They enjoyed the cutting out session very much, finding it quite therapeutic as one lady said. We enjoyed it so much, there's a repeat session in late August!

And the downstairs desk looks like this - I'm sewing on beads whilst watching telly.

And the reason for the lack of crafting? I was away all weekend in North Wales, playing at the National Eisteddfod with the band.  I'd never been to one before, there was lots to see!

We stayed in Caernarfon, just around the corner from the castle:

and had to cross over the Menai straits to get to Anglesey - and we did have a stop at the village of LLANFAIRPWLLGWYNGILLGOGERYCHWERNDROBWYLLLLANTISILIOGOGOGOCH !!

(ooh, spellcheck didn't like that one, lol!)

The Eisteddfod takes up a huge area - this was the outside performance stage...

We were so lucky with the weather!

King Arthur would have to be massive to draw this sword eh?!

My band Crwbin won the Second section contest with 189/190 marks and great comments from the adjudicator. There was a nice big cup to take home - this was filled with fizzy wine later in the evening for us all to have a drink :-D Hic..... Everyone was thrilled!

This is the final note, grabbed from the Welsh tv service - I'm standing at the back, second from right in the tubas!  What an experience, it was amazing - happy days :-D

Have fun this week, I suspect there may be a few pics of Julia and I in next week's post, lol!!

Congratulations on the win, how wonderful. Your lyrics have me singing again, "Gwlad, gwlad....." Oh the Eisteddford remember those from school, sigh - days gone by for me. BJ#9

Well done in the band competition! North Wales is lovely - we spent a number of very enjoyable summer holidays there when the children were small.

Hi. I'm just grabbing a quick coffee in between sewing jobs and am catching up on some of my fav blogs. I've already finished the wedding dress this morning then removed the zips from two shirt pockets and shortened the sleeves on 5 men's shirts.....it's my busiest week for a while so mustn't complain.
Oh what a lovely week you've had there gal and what a wonderful one the next one will be too. Hope you both have a really lovely time together.
Hugs,

Hiya Jan, saw the Eisteddfod win on FB, well done. How amazing to be a part of that. Left a comment with Julia to have a gin or two for me, lol. Haven't been to Caernarfon for many years. Spell check doesn't like that either. Welsh must drive it crazy, lol. Lots of love & hugs, Shaz #4 Xxxxxxx

LOL - I had to look that up just to see how people pronounce it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHxO0UdpoxM The WI ladies are really engrossed in what they're doing - or maybe they were just camera shy? Congrats on the big win! 189/190 wow! that's near perfect! Enjoy your time with Julia - hope to see some photos too! zsuzsa #23

Congratulations on winning!
Unlike our intrepid Zsuzsa, I am shying away from trying to pronounce anything that lengthy today. I have a few Welsh roots on both sides of the family, and am proud of it. I really dig that crazy sword! So cleverly done.
Happy WOYWW!

Wow, I didn't realise you got so many points - well done Crwbin! I've not done any crafting this week so haven't posted. have a good week; take care, love Lynne xxx

Congratulations! Sounds like you had a wonderful time in Crwbin! I would love to know how to pronounce the name of the little village with the incredibly long unpronounceable name! What do the locals call it? How nice that all those ladies did all that cutting - your Christmas crafts will be full speed ahead! Thanks for sharing, Lindart #30

Happy WOYWw - only just! Hope that you and Jan save some gin for me when you go to Llandeilo! I must get Rich to take me back there soon, as we didn't have time to visit the Ginhaus when we were there in April. There is a new exhibition at the art gallery too. Well done for getting such an amazing result at the Eisteddfod. I would like to go to one when it comes closer to Pembrokeshire. We have our county show next week, and our local village show on Saturday. Hoping to enter some of the cookery/craft classes at both - it might have to be a machine-made loaf of bread (yes, they actually have classes for breadmakers!). Not sure where the time goes? I think I have less hours in a day than most people. Ali x #32

Oh Jan, the Eisteddfod was on Anglesey - wish I had known. As long as it didn't interfere with Amsterdam I would have come down. Had there not been a trip to Amsterdam booked I would have come anyway. We love Anglesey. Spent many happy hours in our caravan at Treaddur and now I miss it so much. Too expensive these days!
Anyhow, congrats on your success - and on your TV showing.
Good to see you interacting so much with all the people down there - you have made so many friends in such a short time and I love the blue of the felt hearts.
Hugs, Neet xx

Forgot to say Jan - "me too" - I am a proper home bird and whilst going away sounds wonderful I enjoy the planning but then when I get away I am always ready to come home.

Hi Jan, philistine that I am, I had to look up a translation of the lyrics you quote today! Congratulations to you and your fellow band members! I'm not surprised you are so delighted - it's quite an accomplishment. And now you're a TV star too! The photos are beautiful and remind of how much we love Wales. Seems like you are setting in so well and making so many lovely new friends and equally lovely to have your 'old' friend visiting this week. Hope the weather keeps good for you both. Hi! Thank you for visiting me last week on WOYWW.
I´m very late this time o this week I start visiting
you before I make my own post for this week.

We had very sunny weather here and I love it so I just
had to be outdoors instead of in front of my computer.

That is the longest name of a village i´ve ever heard! :-o
I know, like most people do I think, that Wales is famous for
the strange name of villages. Beautiful place it is as well.

I like your little gathering together with other crafters.
Looks fun! :-)

Have a fun WOYWW!
