I'LL SEW ON MY SHADOW ONE STITCH AT A TIME

There's been quite a lot of stitchery going on this week, in between the house hunting and celebrating the imminent early retirement of Mr LLJ!

Last Saturday was grim weather wise and so I felt no guilt whatsoever in spending most of the day playing nicely.  I'd seen some ideas on Pinterest for felt Christmas decorations and thought I'd have a go. Now I haven't done any embroidery or cross stitch for a VERY long time but do you know what? I have really enjoyed it!  I sort of winged the snowflake being good at eyeballing symmetrical patterns. Last time Shaz and Doug came to stay, they passed on some yarn and bead stash - so I dug a few little pearls out and:

...this was the result! Some of you saw this on FB but I'm sneaking it in today :-D

And here's the start of some different colourways with a nascent Christmas pud top right! That's going to have some holly leaves and red button berries by the time I've finished with it.  The grey seems a bit sombre at the moment but hopefully it'll look better by the time I've blinged it up and blanket stitched it. All these will end up in a charity parcel :-)

And finally, I bought another 20cms of Christmas wreath fabric to go with the spotty blue from my stash to make another couple of sets of bunting (I was trying to match the colours of the snowmen's scarves - it's as near as I could get!)

Hope you all have a great week!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Wow you've given me an idea as I am sure I have some felt in a cupboard somewhere. Remember it being one of my purchases before I moved out to Spain, all Christmassy colours, off to look right now. This will make a change from crocheting. Have a good week.

Delightful little projects, Jan! They put me right in the holiday spirit! Mr InkyDinky is also thinking about early retirement AND we are house hunting, so we have a couple of things in common! Hope it all goes well! Enjoy your week! zsuzsa #22

My Jan, you have been busy. You put me to shame. Love all that you have done, the red looks very festive but for some reason I am really drawn to the grey. Maybe it is because I tend to be drawn to silver grey in the clothes department too.
Good luck with the house hunting and the planned retirement.

Oooooh glad to see you went with the red and white hearts with embroidered snowflakes, they really are effective aren't they. I did one in a craft club I went to with Helen (H) a few years back before it closed. Can't believe you have been on so productive though, certainly puts me to shame. I'm not doing so well at the moment so I have tasked myself to sit and comment on all the WOYWW blogs as I can't seem to focus on anything else these days with all of life's upsets. BJ #37

You totally make me want to break out the embroidery thread and felt and make some ornaments too. I think your ornaments are lovely. And, the gray felt is likely very on trend for those who have a neutral-theme. Keep up with your playing, I think it looks great!

Hello Jan. Oh looking at your post I want to so start making Christmas stuff....I adore your felt ornaments and I am in love with the snowman fabric. I love snowmen as I have to many to count and the one that sits on my desk all year around that my girls had gotten me years back. How fun it is having friends come for a visit and such a bonus to bring goodies for you to play with. Have a fantastic day and thanks for visiting me earlier. Hugs always ~Anne L#8

WOW Jan you have been busy! Lots of Christmas stuff going on! I am still fall and Halloweening it. I will start Christmas next month. I decided this year I will start putting my tree and decorations up a big earlier cause I didn't have it all done by Christmas this past year! Thanks for visiting my desk earlier and leaving a great comment. Vickie #1
My shots went okay…hardly felt them except when he injected the medicine down the right side of my spine…OMG! Right leg lit up like a firecracker…Hasn't worked yet but hoping it is a cumulative thing like he said.

Love your felt makes, Jan. The embroidery is beautiful and I think the grey will be fab too. The little bird is super cute. I'm envious of the way you can whip up bunting ... it takes me forever just to cut out the fabric :( Sounds like Mr LLJ is retiring at just the right time - he'll have plenty to do house hunting. Hope you find your forever home soon. Hope you have a great week. Hugs, elizabeth x #45

Ohhh love these, Jan, you are clever. The Scandi look is gorgeous. Hope the house hunting is not too stressful and I bet you can't wait for Mr LLJ's retirement, you lucky people. Sorry to have been so absent. Full time packing boxes going on here, I'm never at home!!!!

Well I wished you lived next door and I'd run to Michaels and pick you up a tube of red beads!! But the pearls look gorgeous on that embroidery. You go girl! You are doing terrific at the embroidery. I just love embroidering on felt, it really is one of my favorite things. When I get this house done, I'm going to get back to embroidering. I just knew when I got so close to finishing the dollhouse I'd get obsessed with finishing it and throw everything else to the wind! Mr. LLJ must be excited about retirement. You guys are really making some changes! Very refreshing for the spirit. I think you've been more creative than ever lately, if that's possible. Hugs! Sandy Leigh

Happy Belated WOYWW. Those felt decorations are just glorious. Every year I say I am going to make some felt donkeys - even have all the stash for them - but never find the energy. I make no promises now. My donkey friends (friends with donkeys!) will have a nice surprise one day! Ali x #26
