WE'RE ALL GOING ON A SUMMER HOLIDAY,
NO MORE WORKING FOR A WEEK OR TWO.....

An alternative desk from me today!  I'm on my holidays and have been knitting Hooters like crazy in the evenings. But the really exciting thing to share is that I had the opportunity to visit Wipso and Twiglet!

Here they are...two lovely girls and great friends, sitting in Jo's new sewing room. It was very exciting for me to see where all the creativity goes on (I'd seen Annie's sewing room earlier) They had all the machines set up, but first there was some serious chatting and photo taking to be done!

It's not easy taking a selfie with a point and shoot camera, but you get the idea, lol!!

Jo had set up two of her machines and Annie brought one of her 6 to play with!

Me being a wimp! It is a very strange feeling to get used to at first, not sticking to straight lines and having to drop the feed dogs....I wasn't too good sewing by moving the hoop. But as soon as Jo told me about just holding the fabric (on which she's ironed Vilene) then I was away. As Annie says, it's all about practising, relaxing and letting go (cue the song from Frozen!)

Ok, so it's not brilliant but I was pleased with it!  It was a revelation that I could sew sideways (the fabric that is, not me!!) and not have to pivot the fabric around the needle.  I really enjoyed it by the end. Thank you for being such great teachers Jo and Annie :-)

It was such a lovely day - I was welcomed, fed, taught new skills.....oh, and we may have chatted a bit.......grin. What that really means is that we didn't draw breath from the moment I arrived to the moment that Gordon and Rhys came to pick me up!  That's the beauty of meeting WOYWWers isn't it? We already have so much common ground :-)

And here are the fab things that Jo and Annie gave me...

Some gorgeous fat quarters, a beautiful crazy patchwork covered book and a really smashing card...I was so thrilled with all these beauties. Thank you, Jo and Annie, it was a fantastic day. Hope we can meet up again very soon xxxxx

Have a great week everyone!

Glad you had such a fabulous time with two lovely ladies who really need to come to crop one time Even better that you all stopped chatting long enough to learn some new skills - I am impressed with the free-stitching. Helen 2

Oh what a wonderful day we all had Jan.....life really should be filled with days like that shouldn't it? Thank you so much for coming....and yes we really must do it again soon [maybe when I've got the 6 machines in their new home?].

How lovely to see photos of you and the sisters like that - and such big photos too which meant I could look and smile at you all and not squint to try to see you all. What a lovely day you had, and now you can sew sideways ... reminds me of something that happened at Vicky Stampers which made me smile. One lady could not get her guillotine to cut through the Bargello so another one told her to "turn it upside down" - so the lady turned the guillotine upside down - not the card!!! We did laugh.

Oh man! I could use a tutorial from these fellow WOYWWERS for sure. I can't wrap my head around the free motion thing at all. Looks like you had a great day. What fun. Oh, and old eyes? My distance vision is improving but my close up vision remains the same. My MIDDLE distance, much like my actual MIDDLE, gas gone to hell! :)

How lovely for your all to get together and have such fun, you would be totally challenged to teach me anything on a sewing machine, I can just about manage a line, not always straight.

Oh wow. what fun!! One day I am going to get involved with sewing again, especially freesewing and textile art as it really fascinates me. Anything really that DOESN'T involve sewing in a straight line!! Yes it was our 25th anniversary - thanks for stopping by! Happy WOYWW Cindyxx

I just love free hand sewing, though mostly I do it on paper nowadays (easier the fabric, I think!) The going sideways or around in circles always feels weird to begin with :) happy woyww,

Lovely to meet you LLJ, so glad you girls managed to squeeze in some sewing amongst all that giggling and selfie-taking!! Really hope you enjoy free-machine embroidery, it's brought me many hours of pleasure over the years :-)

Well I am smiling from ear to ear! I just love Jo and Annie and I can't believe you got to visit these two amazing sewists! What a cool experience you had with dropping your feed dogs and free stitching--you go girl! Drop those feed dogs! Okay, we need t-shirts that say, "Drop Your Feed Dogs." Because I have not really just let go and done that technique and I've always wanted to and by the way, what's vilene? Is that stabilizer? Anyhoo, I love what you made, I love that you are on holiday, and that selfie of you guys is awesome!! We need a WOYWW selfie folder somewhere I think. Or have a "Selfie Week" so we can see all the lovely faces. But in the meantime, I'm glad you shared this. You guys are cute and it looks like you had so much fun. Hugs dearest! Sandy Leigh #37

Oh, I'm just a tad jealous right now, Jan. From your photos, and Annie's, you all look as though you are having so much fun. And to have a lesson in free motion sewing too ... I'd love to be able to do that, intend to try it some day but, to date, haven't plucked up the courage to give it a go! ... lucky, lucky you :) The little embroidery you made is lovely. Enjoy the rest of your holiday. Hugs, Elizabeth x #36

Hi Jan looks like you had a brilliant day with the girls ! I always found a G&T and some nice swooshy music did wonders for freehand stitching ! Gets rid of the inhibitions and the fear of dropping the dogs ! Have a great holiday Ali #12

How wonderful you could all meet up! You had lots of fun, I can see that!
Interesting way to use a sewing machine. I spy a special 'foot' on the machine. That might be the secret.... as well as the hoop.
I'm sorry, I'm ever so late in commenting!
Have a good week,

Thanks for your return visit LLJ. The bug is biting constantly - the problem is, my body won't oblige! I have so many ideas buzzing around, and different projects on the go that I am dying to get on with, but until I feel a bit better I can't do any of it! Very frustrating. Anyway, today I'm feeling a bit better so hopefully I'lll get some things done before the next treatment on 24th (the half-way point!). Thanks for the vibes and the big squishy hugs - those are the best kind lol!
