YOU AIN'T SEEN NOTHIN' YET...
B-B-B-BABY, YOU JUST AIN'T SEEN NOTHIN' YET!
That's because there may be fabric on my desk today, but no signs of actually doing anything with it!
I've been having a play with various ideas, combinations of fabric etc but as I've been to my dad's for a couple of days, there's not been much time to cut out and sew!
I bought that funky fabric in the foreground from my favourite shop in Marlborough, Dible and Roy. It's full of roll ends of delicious furnishing fabrics - this one caught my eye because I knew I already had the green and brown spots at home.
A friend gave me a bag of felt offcuts and I was playing around making a decorated tree whatsit. Felt doesn't grab me (if ya know what I mean!), I never feel inspired by it whereas others create beautiful things with it.
Pleasing combination of tones, huh? The selvedge of the fabric shows that the blocks should be vertical but I think I prefer them horizontal.
Wonder what that would say about me in some deep, meaningful, psychological test? No....don't answer that!!
Right, I've got to pull my finger out because I've got a couple of presents to make and any spare time seems to be whisked away at the moment.....
Better get my skates on!
This may well be my shortest WOYWW post ever...hope I get lots of brownie points from the Desk Meister. My current standing is about -97 at the moment....grin :-)
Have a great week, y'all !

Morning, Jan - those colours are delicious, and I look forward to seeing what you come up with. Hope you have a great WOYWW, Chris (no no. yet) xx
Love how you combine fabrics and get it so right Jan. As to what it says about you?...I 'd say it's cos you are so laid back you're almost horizontal :-)
Hugs,
Annie x # 26
It says as usual, if she sees it written down as a rule, she will try not to do it that way. Nothing new then! its a nice piece of fabric I must say, a good find! I'm with you about felt...possibly because I don't buy it by the yard...but it always involves fiddly....
I don't like felt very much either, I'm put of by the 'feel' of it! Have a good holiday

Hi Jan. Thanks for asking. Jo is home and is making a good steady recovery...but I'm sure nowhere near as fast as she'd like ;-)
Hugs,

Just love that colour combo, Jan it's gorgeous. I think it would say that you are an individual which is a very good thing. Selvedges and the like leave me baffled, it's a foreign language, lol.
Hope your visit to your Dad wasn't too stressful. Take care

Was quite prepared not to like that blocks fabric but the moment I saw the photo' of it with the green and brown spots it just popped and now I love it! And also prefer it horizontal to vertical ...oooh, er, missus! Happy WOYWW'ing lovely LLJ! Love Debbie xXx
Thanks for sharing your desk. I missed your desk last week but I must say how much I love that botanical fabric and It looks great on that book cover. Happy WOYWW. #37
Lovely fabrics. Have a great day.
Fabulous fabrics as ever Jan. You have such a talent. Look forward to results. Anne x #37
A cute little Christmas tree Jan & the block fabric is good . Happy sewing & woyww Jill #23
Hi Jan, ooow I do like those fabrics, great colours, bold and bright...have fun, cheers RobynO#30
I think that ignoring the selvedge for the sake of your vision shows how creative you are. I LOVE your WOYWW banner. Blessings!
True serendipity - amazing match for your fabric! And I think I am in love with those HORIZONTAL blocks as well - really funky!! Nice work with the tree even if it isn't grabbing you! Happy Wednesday, Cindy #42
More gorgeous fabric - I love the colour combination - it really has the Wow factor. I think I would instinctively have put the fabric horizontal too - now you've got me wondering what that means!!! Love the little tree, but I totally agree about felt, I just can't get inspired by it - I suppose it stems from the fact that almost all of my childhood craft projects involved felt, so it doesn't feel like a very grown-up fabric, if that makes sense!
Hope you have a great week,
Diana x
Love the felt tree, it looks lovely and your spotty fabrics are wonderful next to blocked colour fabric... can't wait to see what you end up making with them! Annette #31
If your fabrics translated to some deep meaning psychological test, they would simply say that you're fabulous! The end! I thought of you because I started pulling out some of the Christmas stuff (I know, it's early) but up went the banner you made me! Fabulous! And I'm still trying to squeeze my crafting time inbetween my busy work schedule, and still (can you believe it) cleaning out my mom's house. Our relator has such patience, because we should have had it ready to sell last month! Oh well *sigh* it's just a lot of work for me and my sis and our husbands, and then my sister hurt her neck and had to wear a brace for a week. Thank goodness I have a week off coming soon. Glad you can visit your dad though. I love the name of that fabric shop! Hugs to you soul sister. Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #57
Hi Jan
Love those clouds on your new fabrics. Funny you being down here and me being up there on Monday!
Hugs

Sorry I meant colours on your new fabrics xx Lynda
Love the fabrics! You are right that the colored bars need to be horizontal. There is no other way for them! That's because we are well grounded...... stop laughing. Judy #72
Love the patterns and colours on those fabrics, they work so well together.
Do you know I have loads of felt that I bought years ago when I used to make soft toys and I have found it cuts really well on my die-cutting machine so it might get used after all Lol!
Have a great week and happy crafting, Angela x 39
Oooh fab fabrics - cant wait to see what you do with them. I prefer horizontal stripes too - cant be doing with vertical ones. Sunshine Girl 27
Looking forward to seeing what you make using that lovely fabric.
Hope you have a happy WOYWW

That fabric is indeed gorgeous! It matches perfectly.
Thank you for letting me look over your shoulder,
Have a good week,
Lisca#36
Looks like you have some fun projects in store! I love the brown polka dot fabric - I'm a sucker for dots! Thanks for sharing! #63 Lindart
I just love those colours. You have the knack of putting the right fabrics together that's for sure!! Take care Zo xx 80
The combination of materials is just wonderful! Wonder what you are going to do with it.
Cheers

as always, love your fabric combinations - agree that the blocks look better horizontally. Thanks for visiting already. Helen 3
I like the blocks going horizontally too and the colours go perfectly with the spots you already had. Funnily enough I just bought some wool felt to make a gift for my girl and it's really rather lovely. A far cry from the acrylic crafty stuff.
Very pleasing fabrics, the pop of red is great
Happy Thursday! (sorry I'm late)

Hello LLJ,
Nice fabric combination! I think you should use the fabric in the way you want to, no matter the selvage (which I need to learn about). I was going to actually join in this week but got my days mixed up. I thought yesterday was Tuesday...... when I went to Julia's page and saw that her WOYWW post was already live I was so perplexed.... still didn't quite catch on!
Did you get your goodies?
Hugs,
Kay
Evening Mrs you should have had time to make something with that gorgeous bright fabric by now .... A bag perhaps .. It speaks tome of a needle roll.. Next time I'm at s loose end and NEED to buy fabric I might have to seek out this shop. Is that ever likely to happen I wonder?
Janet @16
That's some lovely fabric there. The colours all go so well! I'm not fussed about felt either. I think it feels and looks like kindergarten kiddie gluey stuff, if you know what I mean. I've got a lot of furnishing fabric remnants stashed away. I will never have time to do anything with them all, if only you lived closer :)
Thanks for dropping by earlier. And the deers in the Rustic Theatre is actually a 3D diorama I made in a biscuit box (not a card) :)
Have a good week,

Hi there and nice to meet you. I am new and getting acquainted with people and process. I appreciate your sharing.

I think I need to shop for fabric where you shop - every week there is some new stunner on here. Thanks for the offer last week, sorry I didn't reply quickly, but I am determined to finish up a fair few on the go projects before I allow myself to acquire anything new. Also testing out a theory that the word verification will revert to number verification in a new day (fingers crossed but not hopeful)
Happy (late again) WOYWW!

Lovely bright happy post and wow, I spent ages having a good look round. The things you have made are beautiful. I wish I lived a bit closed so I could find out how you did them all. Love your bags....sorry I am late, I got waylaid looking at everyones crafty space. I am just going to sign up and be your new follower. Thank you for lots of inspiration Tracey No. 20
Gooorgeous fabric. Cannot wait to see what you make with that. I need to go to a physical shop and have a browse. Haven't done that in ages! Not an interesting shop with arty crafty bits anyway. Just boring food or... dare I say it, clothes shops for the girls. BORING!
Thanks for stopping by. I totally agree - streamlined is the way to go. I may have to bring forward my January purge.

Hiya Jan, I am all behind this week- 10.00 appt on Thursday meant we had to sleep in two halves, then lost Friday still trying to catch up on lost sleep. Never the same when you don't get it all in one go, is it? Love how those spotty fabrics match your roll end find. Horizontal lines- I reckon that says you are a laid back person, lol. Well, only 6 more treatments to go, nearly done. I will be glad to finish, its been hard work with all the travelling, for both of us. Love and huge hugs, Shaz xxx
ooh I love the striped fabric, yep horizontal I agree with Shaz.
kyla
Love it horizontal too! I think that to go vertical it looks choppy! I think the tree whatzit is an interesting idea. I have a tree skirt somewhere but can't remember exactly if I have ever used it. I bought a cute table cloth and use that! Have fun with the cloth. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it. Thanks for coming and visiting my desk this week. I am so late getting around but it seems something always gets in my way of desk hopping! Have a great rest of the week. Vickie #43
Whatever the blocks say about you they say the same about me - I prefer them that way too. I do like the fabric though but I would never have thought about something I already had - in fact you reminded me I have some gorgeous African scene fabric somewhere. Bet those two look good with the blocks.
Got visitors coming to stay which is why I have been a bit manic, had a good few cards to make too and that always takes me a while. Then of course Christmas - and I am going away this year - so maybe that is why I have been a bit stressed.
Hope I am back to normal now things are a bit straighter.
Forgot to say
Hugs & Thanks for visiting me. Sorry I am so very very late - Neet xx"
Guess I am not back to normal at all. LOL xx
There is always such super fabric on your desk and you turn it into such smashing things.
Thanks for popping by my desk and yes threads are a nightmare to hoover up, far worse than paper.

Those fabrics are gorgeous, look forward to seeing what you create with them.
Thank you for your visit to my desk
Best wishes, KraftyKaren #72
