WOYWW 283

JELLY ON A PLATE, JELLY ON A PLATE,
WIBBLE WOBBLE, WIBBLE WOBBLE, JELLY ON A PLATE!

Well, then, lovely WOYWWers (and other readers...), it's that time again. Show and tell!

I had just over half a metre of the lovely Botanicals fabric (as seen last week) so decided to make another tote as something to have in reserve if anyone needs a bag/prezzy. This time, it got teamed with this beautiful soft green check which I LOVE.

Here, I'm sandwiching together the bag lining, zipped section and a top bit of lining. Hence the pins, because three layers would just go walkies otherwise...and yes, I've learned that the hard way!

But now it needs a blooming good iron to finish it off :-)

Then with some of the offcuts, I made a covered notebook (A5, if you're interested!)  Even though I allowed half an inch to the book's measurements, it was quite a tight fit....

I didn't add any embellishments as I thought it would detract from the gorgeous print. I was really pleased with this and it took about 15 minutes to make.

From the sublime to the ridiculous!  This was the desk last Thursday.... I've been playing bass keyboard for the Kennet Accordion Orchestra recently, standing in for their normal player who's going through breast cancer treatment.

My previous image of accordions was a French bloke in a stripey t-shirt smoking a Gauloise...how wrong I was!  The sound the orchestra creates is amazing - layered and complex.  Anyhow, we were in a contest on Saturday and were playing Rock around the Clock in one category. So I made scarves for the five girlies - just hemmed triangles but they added to the overall impression. If you're interested, the Orchestra won the three group categories they were in. second in a small group, plus duos and soloists from the group came first in their sections. It was a good day!

The venue was quite large and this sign struck me as I was wandering down one corridor! Well, the mind bloggled, it really did. But, seeing that I'm a sticky beak, off I went to have a nosey, visions of large jellies in my mind.....

Oh, it's wobbling exercise machines. That's what the sign meant!  I dread to think what would have happened if I'd have had a go on these.....underground tectonic plate disturbances in deepest, darkest Dorset!!

Thanks for reading my nonsense, I'm off to make some jelly :-)

Morning, Jan - thanks for my first laugh of the day! Those totes are so lovely, and the fabrics you find are just perfect. Such a good idea, to have some made in advance - wish I was more like that. The music sounds great fun, too. Have a lovely week, Chris (no no. yet) xx

I really love the latest bag Jan but have to say that last bit really had me chuckling. Why? Wobble??? My mind is doing overtime imagining stepping onto one of those machines....it's not a pretty sight. ;-)

Morning Jan. I hope you are well this lovely Wednesday. What gorgeous bags, I love the fabric.
I bet we'd all loose more weight laughing at each other wobbling on those machines than the wobble itself. Bet they are great fun. What about eating jellies while wobbling in the wobble room.... oh it's just getting silly now, I love it.

Love the bag and the notebook.

My dad use to have one of those machines. We sat his dog on it once and she happily stayed even when we put it on:)

Thought you were talking about my belly. Anyhoo how on earth does a wobble machine work?? Love that fabric - as you know!! - it is really beautiful and doesn't need anything else. I do like the sound of 'brass' - recently went to see Caro Emerald at the 02 and there are a lot of brass instruments in the band - the sound was amazing!! Happy WOYWW Cindy #38

I meant to say there was an accordion player as well - oh well, the train of thought got lost somewhere, not unusual these days. x Cindy

Oh that bag is gorgeous - and looks perfect with the green check - and I'm wowed by the notebook - how did you make it such a perfect fit and look so professional - I'm incredibly impressed! Love the sign, but sadly I don't need a machine to help me wobble - I do that all by myself! Hope you have a great week,
Diana x

I love, love, love that journal cover! The reason sewing and I don't get on very well is because I'm not very precise. Your precision is evident in your photos! Straight lines and everything lines up! Your projects look professional! Have a wonderful week! zsuzsa @ InkyDinkyDoodle #42

Happy WOYWW, A nice journal cover. Pretty shades of green And the Wobble Room ! Cute idea, I'm not much for machines in rooms to exercise,. I like the great outdoors, but cold temps here so that will come to an end shortly. #53 this week. Have a lovely week.

Hi Jan, looks as though you are thinking along the same lines as me ... that is, making stuff for pressies. I like the notebook cover - it looks fab and I love you bags. One day I will try to make one myself - I just need to get up the courage :) Congratulation to the accordion orchestra - didn't they do well. I bet the girls looked just the thing with those scarves on. That sign is a hoot! Have a fab and productive week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #47

Oh my goodness, I love a music contest. What fun! Congratulations! I just have to laugh at the wobble room though. What in the world are wobble machines? Maybe something like that would help my bad back. You deserve an award for yet another beautiful tote too - and the book cover is just brilliant. You know, your beautiful sewing always inspires me and reminds me that I am completely under utilizing the wonderful embroidery sewing machine (Violet) my mother helped me buy. I have certainly sewed with Violet all year, but I haven't done one embroidery, and I need to do those again! Machine embroidery is so cool--although I love my hand stitched stuff, there are plenty of plain jane fabrics in my stash that could completely perk up with a quick embroidery from ole Violet. Wish I could have heard the beautiful sounds of your orchestra--now you're making me want to get out my violin! Hugs to you sweet girl. Sandy Leigh #51

I love reading your posts because you make me smile! That music contest sounds like fun!
I'm intrigued by the red polka dot fabric in one of the photos.... I live in southern Spain and ladies wear these 'flamenco' dresses made of this sort of fabric....
I giggled at your wobbly story! Thanks for a healthy good laugh!
Thank you for letting me look over your shoulder.
Have a good week.

I believe that spandex is a privilege not a right so my wobbly bits stay away from anything that could be called a gym. Love your bags!

Before I even got to the end of your plate I was quite sure you were referring to my midsection and its wibbly wobbly-ness... love the polkie dotted pattern and the botanicals bag. Congrats on you and your bandmates recognition. Will you be going on a world tour now?

Oh goodness, I nearly wet myself with your wobble description. I had all sorts of things in my mind when I saw that sign, none of them were those exercise things. Congrats to your orchestra for the great wins. I am so in love with your covered note book. Are you planning to sell them? Or even just the covers? I'd be in line for one if you do. I use lots of notebooks for my little sketches (that I keep secret just for my eyes) and they would look super with fancy covers on. Lovin that bag too. Have a great week.

Hi lunch lady Jan. your new bag and the notebook cover is great. I remember that material from a previous post I loved it then and I still love it now!

I have been getting ready for my craft fair which is this Saturday so I've been so bad about posting and visiting others.

this evening I'm trying to make some candles and some old Desert Rose cups that I have. So far so good.

Those exercise machines crack me up. My mom had an electrical round barrel thing that you would sit on. What a memory to come back!

I sent a package to Julia and hopefully you guys will be getting it soon; there's something in there for you.

Hugs,
Kay

I love that fabric! I am wondering if I could use the Stick It stuff and cut out a motif to use on a layout? Bet I could... is if FL uk?? I know you do shop there so maybe my local one will have it too. Love the colours and the design so much. The notebook cover is nice too but it does look a little tight :) I feel your pain cause I can never get things like that to fit JUST RIGHT no matter how carefully I measure.

Happy WOYWW!
