WHO LET THE DOGS OUT....WHO, WHO, WHO, WHO?

I had the strangest request this week.....someone contacted me to see if I would make a bag, cushion and quilt as a present for a little girl who has a chihuahua and dotes on it. So this is why pink things are on my desk!
Luckily, I had strips of joined up squares already made up...oh yeah!

Making a cushion fit for a puppy princess!

I'm making the bag from this recently bought fabric. It's sturdy cotton so will be fine for lugging a small dog about in.  Well, I've made doggy bandannas before so knew that could LEAD onto bigger things. I sank my CANINES into the project, though it was a bit RUFF at first. But you know me, I like to COLLAR new ideas. Ok, don't HOWL at these puns, I'm stopping now as my voice is HUSKY....... Feel free to continue this thread in the comments if you wish!!!

My train obsessed menfolk had a treat last week (belated birthday prezzy). They thought they were going to learn to drive a small steam shunter train. This is what turned up instead....
They had a fab day and ended up dirty, covered in coal dust and grease and couldn't have been happier. I love this picture :-)

Have a great week!

I was all set to write about the doggie bag and then I went oooooooooo train!! That does look like a lot of fun. And the bag is, of course wonderful. The puns had me giggling : D.

Lol at you Jan- very funny. Loved the pic of your menfolk on the train. Quite shocked to see how early I am in the list, good for me as most of my visits will be tomorrow. My wonderful eldest son is 40 today, so will be visiting him later when we get up. Have a great week, Huge hugs, Shaz xxx

Loving the colours of the fabrics. The little girl is going to love everything.

Glad the menfolk had a fab day.

NB....I sent you an email 23rd July enquiring about tote bags.

Oh what a barking good idea. I thought dogs had legs and liked walking? :-) I'm a bit of a TERRIER when it comes to things like that and like to get my TEETH into it. Just get a PAD of fabric out and FETCH out matching threads then WAG a few hours off work to get creative.....best I can do sorry [my brain is fried from steaming the 10 dresses for the wedding yesterday!]. Guess you knew I'd have a go though and I wouldn't let you down ;-)
Have fun creating and thanks for your visit already.
Hugs,

LOL! dog in a bag. Lucky little lady (and pup) to travel in such style. Love the hodge podge of colour and pattern. You make me want to pop round to FLUK but I fear my local is nothing on YOURS. See? If I got a bag of coal that looked that good I wouldn't care, now would I? LOL again.

Have a good one.

Happy WOYWW!

How clever of you to figure out the chihuahua likes pink! LOVE that bright and fresh fabric you have there. I wish I was a better needlewoman ... can just about get by and have made more costumes for school plays than I can count - mostly designed from scratch without a pattern - but it's easy really because you just lie the child on some sugar paper and draw round them!
Thanks for popping by my blog this week ... the overlapping leafy crochet that you think looks like a dragon is actually called Crocodile or Dragon stitch! Yet to quite master it but I ain't giving up yet! Love to you this bright and sunny WOYWW! Debbie xXx

Hi Jan your post and the comments have had me giggling - soooo funny. My niece has a dog that she took out in a bag and bought pearl etc encrusted collars for - well call me old fashioned but I thought it ridiculous - bah humbug !!! Each to their own I guess. Pretty fabric though. Great photo of your menfolk! By the way did I mention how much I love my bag !!! :-) Anne x #25

Hi Jan, you know how to please your menfolk, don't you? They look like two overgrown schoolboys in heaven.
The bag and cushions will be lovely when finished, nice bright colours will disguise the odd muddy paw print.
Have fun

Oh my goodness, your menfolk look adorable!! I think that puppy princess cushion is going to be fabulous. I just now posted my desk--I'm having a crazy, on-the-go kind of day. But all is well. I canned my first small batch of tomatoes, and they are ripening in loads. Trying to get some other things done, so I can get back to work on my crafty book. AND...I just need to sew things. Hugs and love! Sandy Leigh #69

Hi Jan, your squares are so pretty, I especially love the dragonfly fabric! What an unusual request but I always think that a chihuahuas is the ultimate accessory so why should it not have it's very own designer bag! Love the photo of the boys on the steam engine ... they look so chuffed :) Have a great week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #53

Oh well Sandy beat me to it. I'm still giggling about your cottage industry manufacturing canine collectables. Or portables. Love a bit of steam train myself. I once worked with a train nut - he got maintenance to put a shelf up all round his office so it ran all the way round and put a train set on it. What a hoot. He had a steam engine phone as well. LOL takes me back. Happy WOYWW Hugs Cindy some number or other I forgot to look. xxx

That is something awesome you making there, wow.. Kind of cute that request I think.. and your menfolk - rare to see that kind of happy faces for sure. Thank you so much for sharing your WOYWW :D

Oh how punny! How exciting for the menfolk!! I'd be jealous! Well, my howling husky would be mortified, but the fabric is quite nice! Have a great week.

Great shot of your men on the train. Bet they had a brilliant time. Nit sure about dogs in bags, but the quilt looks lovely. I have a little bit of one of the flowery fabrics you've used. You sent it to me along with the strawberry print, a little while ago now! No desk from me today, but I posted about the glow worms, if you're interested. Fx

Oh, my daughter would be very jealous - she would love to be a steam train driver!! That fabric will make a very cute doggy bag!

Hey guys, dogs are people too. No, wait. My cat just set me straight on that. Dogs should not be lugged about in pretty princess pink tote bags but should be left in the alleyways to fend for themselves because we are too busy catering to our cats' every whim. The bag will be quite fancy and fit for princess tiny tot dog (pocket dogs? puntables?). Looks like the boys had a fun day doing boy stuff.

Oh deary me, I think you used every doggy pun in the book, sad, sad, sad. I don't know what's worse your puns or the fact you have to make those things for a dog. Mind you my parrot sleeps in a cat igloo and has his own cushion on the lounge, but he is human you know. Love, love, love the train shot. There is nothing a man loves more than playing with trains and that's one big train. Have a great week.

Hi Jan,

Love the puns you really have been having a bow wow of a time, better be careful you don't wag that tail if yours too much you might start chasing it around and around. I think you are going to make one little girl really puppy happy.

Have yourself a doggy treat and a cuppa milk

Thanks for your visit, Jan, and for your lovely comments on my card. I have to say, I was quite chuffed with the results when it was finished. Your lovely bags do get some strange uses, don't they? I would never have thought of carrying a dog in one, but then my two are far to bouncy to put then into anything like that. The one I bought has found a perfect use for me - it now contains all the chargers and cables needed for all the electronic gadgets I take away with me. Now I know exactly where they all are at any time - a real first for me. Have a great week. xx Maggie #32

GREAT (that's meant for emfaticism and not dog-ness) photo of your menfolk and their giant toy train! What fun!! Have a wonderful birthday weekend!! Hugs, Darnell
