TEA FOR TWO AND TWO FOR TEA.......
We have a phrase in LLJ Towers; it was first coined by Mr LLJ and it is TEA BAG SYNDROME.
It all started when he was making me a cuppa - good chap that he is - on opening the bin to deposit the used bag, he found it overflowing so decided to change it. When he took the bulging bag to the dustbin outside, THAT was overflowing too, so he had to change that too....and so Tea Bag Syndrome began - one simple action that descends into stages of madness...
Why am I telling you this? Because Younger son decided to swap bedrooms and Tea Bag Syndrome was initiated...because before you can start decorating, everything has to be removed from the room etc etc. And that is why my desk/craft room looks like this:
So, no desk crafting this week!
My son was sorting out 17 years worth of STUFF; the cat was supervising.....
So Teabag Syndrome was: Clear room, sort stuff, dismantle furniture, go to the tip, prepare for decorating (Yuk), decorate, shift furniture and refill with teenage accoutrements. Love it :-)
But crocheting is still happening! I can't watch telly without doing something so here is my downstairs crafting area (that sounds SO wrong.......)
There's a big bag of granny squares, I've almost finished them and then blanket creating will commence. But there's a whole load of yarn stuffed into that basket that are interlopers. Hopefully, inspiration will strike.
I had a wonderful load of Happy Mail from Kay (see previous post) which more than made up for the leak in the central heating system and flood in my dining area. See, it's been one of those weeks.
But some more happy mail arrived today from Brenda (Butlers Abroad)
Some really beautiful cards for the ladies in the Refuge and...
...some beady bling for me!! Yay, thank you soooo much Brenda..you know me so well. I shall put them to good use!!
So, this week has most definitely got better :-)

Happy to be of service! You've definitely had one of those weeks haven't you! Hope the leak didn't cause too much damage and hope the teenage stuff is sorted soon, at least he's old enough to do his own painting! I can't watch telly and craft, too easily distrac - ooh look, bling!
Hugs

I recognise tea bag syndrome so well... it's why I don't attempt to reorganise my living room craft room.. once you start you have to finish - at least you didn't stop and put it all back though like I would! Have a great week - the happy mail is fabulous! Helen 31
Wow Jan lots of busy goings on in your house this week. Great to get these jobs done tho. Bloggers playing up my end so hope you get this.
Hugs Lynda B #30
Happy WOYWW. You certainly have a busy life at the moment (don't you always!). Teabag syndrome is alive and kicking in our household too. I often intend to get all sorts done during the day, but stop to do one job, which leads to another, etc, etc. Amazing Happy Mail. Those ribbons from New Mexico are beyond gorgeous! Ali x #36
I love it.... Tea bag syndrome !!!
And know it so well, thing is once you start you have to keep going till it's done!
Love the cat supervising!

Morning Jan! Downstairs crafting area eh? As Miranda would say (aside to camera) "Rude!" Still smiling :0) Hope your unexpected decorating / tidying / trip to the tip / 101 other un-anticipated tasks goes well. Thanks again for bunting GORGEOUS! Hugs MMx #41
Tea bag syndrome have never heard it described like that made me LOL. It does happen like that though hey one thing leads to another and you end up doing so much from so little.. Last year we thought we would have a little job of re doing our veggie garden.. 3 months later it was done it turned out to be a lot bigger job that we thought, well worth the effort in the long run now though..
Happy WOYWW

Me again - just read your comment and I'm having a right old chortle - Miranda is always in my head (I think it is a weird kind of through the telly possession) Mr M and I often find ourselves doing asides to non-existent cameras. As for the full frontal treatment - got carried away with a light trim once - worse mistake of my life! MMx
Tea bag syndrome...I love it! Good luck with the decorating, we moved here 12 years ago and every year we say that we're going to make a start on it! Hope you got your boiler/flooded room sorted out OK. What lovely post to receive. Hugs. Pam#39
I have a feeling a lot ot tea bag syndrome goes on here too Jan....and I only drink coffee :-) It's very cleansing to have a good sort out like that...we seem to have done loads of it lately in readiness for a move [at some point in the next millenium!].
Do check out my yesterdays post on my blog to see all the wonderful quilts squares together...and thanks again.
Hugs,

Note to self don't reads LLJ s post while waiting for a train to work I will pop back later tea bag syndrome may take over
Janet @38 ish
We certainly have the teabag syndrome in our house too. Our little miss decided she is too old for her single bed and furniture so we had to get all of her stuff out and put in older furniture and a queen size bed. Our upstairs lounge is now full of bedroom furniture, so I feel your pain!! Love your crocheting, can't wait to see the blanket put together. Lovely bling you got there and the cards are gorgeous, such lovely ladies to help with your refuge giving. Hope you get your craftroom back to yourself soon. Have a great week.

Oh how funny...tea bag syndrome! Have been there soooo many times lol. Thank you for making me laugh. Happy Wednesday!
Karen no.51 x
Well I agree the happy mail makes up for the domestic situations..it's no wonder i dn't like to use too many teabags!
It's only me that drinks tea in our house so we don't suffer with tea bag syndrome thank god.
That cat looks so at home on the pile of things. It's always nice to receive happy mail which we all need more of . Happy woyww jill #37
Must remember the tea bag syndrome. It happened to me when we decided to paint the shower room. Did you know in order to paint you had to dismantle the entire shower, break a bit and leave it out of action for nearly a month?!!! lol x Jo
Well, you certainly get 'tea bag syndrome' when you move house, I can tell you! We are totally in the throes of the biggest case of TBS ever, I reckon! I'm so glad that the cat supervised with your son's room. They do that so very well, I find! Dogs, well, they're a totally different kettle of fish, if you get my meaningQ I love all your beautiful crochet and all those lovely cards for the ladies at the refuge - what kindness and creativity! Have a great WOYWW! Julie Ann xx #20
Hi Jan, so that's what it's called, 'tea bag syndrome' ... I've been living with it for weeeeeeks! And does your son switching rooms mean that you are moving to a new craft room too? Glad to see that cat is keeping hit's managerial skills up to scratch :)
Lovely granny squares. Now that it's darker and cooler, I've picked up my crochet hook again. Like you, I can't sit for too long and not do something and crochet is easy to pick up and put down.
Brenda's cards are gorgeous - the ladies are going to love them - and the beads are wonderful.
Thanks for popping by earlier and commenting on the little dress ... I think the flounced hemline is lovely too - just a bit different. I now have no UFOs in the sewing box ... a first for me :)
Thanks for sharing and I hope you all have a good week. Elizabeth x #42
I think the syndrome is spreading internationally, but at least the cat looks happy.
Sandra @65
Topsy turby..household...and yes I like to keep busy crocheting while watching TV too!
Happy snooping Carole #65
There is indeed no one capable of supervising like a cat! Decorating- why does it involve so much mess? We have a mantra here ( to be repeated whenever you feel like throwing it all out of the window) 'It'll look lovely when its finished' ! Tea Bag Syndrome will be added to the vocabulary of every WOYWWer now you know. It'll be included in the Oxford English with it one of these years- and we'll all know who started it.Have a great week, Hugs Shaz #56 xx
Ha! OMG! I am the same way, once I start cleaning or moving something, watch out! I blame my mother, she does the same. Totally all her fault! Thanks for introducing me to the new "Tea Bag Syndrome!" Hugs, Super Stamp Girl #69
I know that syndrome very well! It is here too alive and well! I am just getting the basement sorted out after we did my son's room the other week! I am gradually working my way around the house so not much crafting going on. I didn't get a post up this week as my internet was playing up last night and I won't have time to post this morning as I am out early to visit a friend.
So funny, I was looking at your crochet and wondering why you had an orange in the bag....must remember to put my specs on to browse blogs!
Gorgeous cards and love those beads, not seen those before! You must have a lovely pile of cards for the refuge now! I am so glad it has been a success!
Have a great week! Debxx
Looks like things really started snow balling out of control, yep the snowball effect I call it, I have had one of those days too. LOL I will let you know the minute the bunting arrives you will hear me screaming across the pond.
Happy WOYWW

Forgot to add,
Give the supervisor a treat and a tickle from me, he is doing a great job.
Hugs E
Ok so now I have read the whole post I am going to have to wait until I get home in future. I either missy train or scare everyone in the staff room an have to explain about your downstairs crafting area because I was laughing so much. Thanks you always cheer me up :-)))
Thank you for the great post! You got a good giggle from me....I am going to have to remember that, the Tea Bag Syndrome..never had a name for it..but I am hear to tell you, that I also suffer from it!
Hugs, robin #74
Oh it all sounds fun, thankfully there isn't that option here. Keagan has his room and he has to stay there, well unless he want's to move into my craft room and the craft room moves to his bedroom, his room being the bigger. Hmmm not likely then! I need to start doing something while watching TV, cos all I do is eat! Lol Take care Zo xx 81
I love that you call it the tea bag syndrome, I know it too well =)
Strange thing is that, things seem to have to get worse before they get better. I hope all gets better now =)
Happy WOYWW

It really seems like when the kids want to do these things, the moms are truly the ones who become the tea bag syndrome victims! Oh, how I love this new term. I'm going to use it all day! We are so alike, because unless I'm really super tired, I cannot watch anything on TV without a project in my hands. I've got to get back to my crochet though, or I'll never get good. My mama (her name is June) sends you a hug, as do I. She now loves to hear about your doings! I hope you get your craft room back and returned to its productive ways. That is a good hubby, though, that will make you a cuppa. Mine brings me coffee on Saturday mornings. Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #10
All that room changing about has gotten me exhausted. I totally understand the teabag syndrome and live it often. My friend once sent me an email joke/story about how a woman says she is going to bed but first she loads the dishwasher, lets the dog out, packs lunch, put clothes in the washer, lets the dog in, changes the cat's water bowl, hangs out tomorrow's outfit, brushes her teeth, checks the doors and windows, and then goes to bed. A man says he is going to bed and off he goes. So true! Very true of how we leave the house for the day too. I had a giggle of the photo of the pile of your son's stuff. Looks like he had a cat stashed in there. Of course the cat had to supervise.
I love Mr LLJ's TBS term, thank you very much! We always call it domino delirium, but I like TBS better. You're a good mom to accommodate sonny's move and let it disrupt all your crafting save your crocheting!! And those cards and beads from B have blown my mind! What a generous and lovely woman she is!! Happy WOYWW, my friend! Thank you for the visit to me! Have a happy week! Hugs, Darnell #9
I'm sorry to hear you've had a bonkers week and am glad that things are getting sorted. Cats make the best supervisors. I hope Younger son is grateful for all your hard work?! Have a good week - Lucy #34 x
Oh dear sorry it's not been the best week. The cards and beads are fab though. Happy WOYWW Anne x #96
I know what you mean, we call it "one simple job ...." it often happens in our house, Thanks for my earlier visit Donna #32
Great Happy Mail! Glad your week is improving. Oh yeah, those jobs - I tidied my daughter's bedroom weeks ago but haven't had time to visit the charity shop yet so we have lost the use of the spare bedroom until I get around to it - I so know what you mean by one job begetting another!!
Happy WOYWW Cindy #49
Thank you for sharing the alternate areas, It is so reassuring that others have multiple areas as well.
Happy WOYWW Rennata #70
Oh don't we all have multiple areas for various crafty-ness. So son wanted a bigger room I take it? :) lovely lot of cards from butlers abroad for the cause! And bling too! Yippee! Thanks for the earlier visit! Happy WOYWW! Nan G #6
I guess moving every couple of years sorts that problem out... well, it should but it doesn't... cos the house back home stays the same and I move and leave it all behind! LOL What a gorgeous cat, he has a bandit mask!! Love all the happy mail you are getting too... Annette #11
we SO need to move - used to be it was every 3 years or so, so regular clear outs. Now, we are overrun with OMG I can't get rid of THAT stuff :) Love the bling and that book just far right in the photo - looks very retro...
Busy with DS's visit yesterday so Happy (late) WOYWW!
Mary Anne (12)
love term TBS so apt and true !but you now have one happy son and we get to snoop at your other areas its a win win hope you have a better week ahead and get to use those great beads; what very kind lady indeed ...crafty hugs and belated woyww wishes Andrea #25
Wow you have been busy, and of course the cat must supervise, I wonder if they think we humans can do nothing without their feline supervision. Isn't your wool well organised in that basket, makes me feel that my muddle palstic bags of tangled is a disgrace, maybe I need to sort them instead of doing the ironing!
Lovely crop of card you have received there, are you still wanting more, I have another half dozen you can have.
Blessings

You know, it was really sunny driving down to Wales last Sunday until we hit the River Avon and the rain started. It came in spurts but one downpour caught me in the fast lane unable to see to move in with a big 4x4 close behind. I slowed down to 40mph (in the fast lane) as the visibility was nearly zero. All passed without mishap but sure was scary. I hope you journey is less eventful. I have made me a sheep and am on the 2nd one, apparently the church want 60! Love your granny squares and especially your tea bag syndrome, know it well. Thanks for the visit BJ#50
Oh wow yes, cleaning out/moving a room, anything like that takes a long time, and it always gets worse before it gets better, doesn't it? But so satisfying when it's finished. And you obviously have plenty to work on, even without your spot! Thank you for stopping by this woyww, Jan, I appreciate your visit!

I am glad the room situation got sorted LOL - T bag Syndrome sounds like a good excuse to sit back and watch!! I usually donate my unsold cards to the defence forces so our brave people can send greetings home to their family and friends... it means I have a clean slate to start with each year... - thanks for popping over - Happy WOYWW - Mxx #57
Teabag Syndrome......that is SO true!! Sometimes it feels like every small job turns into a massive one!!! Hope it all get back to normal soon.
Thanks for visiting my desk already
