I'M IN PIECES, BITS AND PIECES.....
Howdy! Hope you've had a great week.
The glorious weather burst with a vengeance this weekend...it was so dark on Sunday afternoon that we had the lights on at 3pm. However, I was quite happy to ignore the tempests raging outside...the beef casserole was simmering away in the oven and I was in the mood for getting scrappy :-)
Lawks, what a tip! A long awaited grandson arrived for a friend of mine in band, so out came the bunting accoutrements again. I had fun making this...
the fat quarters got shoved to one side...
Julia, your ribbon jar has got some stiff competition. This would make a great jigsaw, don't you think? You know, for your sewing friends who have got everything....lol!
Oh boy, did I enjoy myself making these patchwork squares which I shall send to Wipso so she can give them to her friend who will make them up into quilts and sell them for charity. The theme was All Things Bright and Beautiful...
Right, I thought...I can do Bright and Bold (in more than one aspect of my life!) so I gathered a few larger scraps and sewed squares that are all different but with the same fabrics in. Playing with colours made me very happy indeed.
Ok, so they're not the neatest, but I don't care - there was lots of love sewn into these and, amazingly, not a single thing went awry in the construction and THAT doesn't happen very often - well, in my craft room anyway!
More colour.....
You can almost smell the oranges and cinnamon! I found the red velour in the wardrobe (honestly, it's getting to be like Narnia in there...) It was just the thing for some lining..
..for a little Christmas Stocking, only about 9" high...destined to be a surprise for someone.
So, although we didn't get out for a walk, quite a lot was achieved. The casserole was yum, the woodburner was lit and all the family was happily snuggled in. I really do think I might have Hibernation tendencies!

I am starting to get into hibernation mode too! The sound of your casserole and woodburner would definitely keep me indoors! Gorgeous fabric work going on over there! That is a long name for your bunting, were you not secretly wishing he had a shorter name! hehe!
Love the patchwork squares, you have them all lined up perfectly! I am not good at that!
Such a cute Christmas stocking, love that festive fabric! I am full on preparing stuff for Christmas now, there is no going back, it is Christmas or nothing!
Have a great week! Debxx
I've had a similar burst of enthusiasm for making and finishing things too, and it was also triggered by a big drop in the temps and a wet Saturday! I like a day or two that keeps me indoors from time to time. The bunting is fab as are the quilt squares, but I really adore that lovely big stocking! Get to bed girl, it's nearly time to get up!
Hugs

Hi Jan - I can't sleep either - I wonder what's up with us all? I've emailed my snail mail address to you - I was so happy to get your message - THANK YOU! You're busy as ever there I see. Love that stocking - I bet that red velour adds a real touch of class. Gorgeous bright and beautiful patches too. Have a great week MMx #36
So many gorgeous projects, love all the bright colours. The stocking is going to be a wonderful surprise for a very lucky person. Hugs. Pam#38
Love the squares, and the stocking, so pretty! Sorry you didn't get out for a walk on Sunday (it would have been a wild wet one, here..) but you were very productive. Helen 20
Hi Jan your Sunday sounds very cosy! Your sewing is lovely and someone is going to be thrilled with that little stocking!

My dad said he always got an orange at the bottom of his stocking, it was such a treat. My how times have changed. I kid would not give you thanks for an orange any more! #57
My Wednesday is not complete without bunting.
~Kate~
Oh fab! There is just something about random, brightly coloured scrappy quilts that I just love. Now, where ever did I see that post, musing on Banners...? I think it was more scrapbooky than fabricy but it was interesting nonetheless.
My son loves a CHOCOLATE orange.....expects one every year...
Happy WOYWW!

I quite enjoy the first couple of weeks of winter too, but the novelty soon wears off with me. I like to work in natural light and love our long sunny months. We had the first rain of the season last night but it can only have been a little shower, judging by the baby puddles in the garden.
Your quilt squares are very bright and beautiful, and for such a good cause too. Kate x #61
Ooh you're on it! Nothing like an afternoon where everyone is safely gathered in and doing there own thing, can't beat it. As for the ribbon jar..if you'd like to make something of it for me.....
We were lucky with the weather here at the weekend but it's made up for it since and is lashing down at the minute..urgh!!
Love the colours you've used for your quilt squares, lovely and bright.
Well better go and brave the rain.
Happy WOYWW

Jan, you really have been busy, and I love that Christmas fabric. I have some pieces in my cupboard but it is too beautiful to use!!! Pleased to see someone is made of sterner stuff and puts her beautiful fabric to good use.

Ah isn't it just lovely when you can stay inside in a warm place when outside you have the dark and horrible weather! I really like all your makes and yes that Christmas stocking will make someone very happy!
Lots of hugs,
Cardarian
Ha, we're just coming out of hibernation here, it's lovely and hot and I'm rearing to go, just wish I had the time (bummer). I love, love, love your bright patchworks. Bright colours are my favourite. Your Christmas stocking is gorgeous, you really are the queen of the needle.
Have a great week,
Von #63
Aw I love the colours and your makes, always a pleasure to visit your desk, lovely. Take care Zo xx 70
Your squares are very bright, bold, and cheerful. I only wish I could sew. I mean like a seamstress sews, not like someone who can't even sew a straight line and cuts her fabric using her guillotine paper cutter. You say yours aren't straight, but they look AWESOME to me.
I love that ribbon box. You should take that photo to BIGHUGELABS.com and turn it into a puzzle, if for no other reason than your own satisfaction. Love it. Happy WOYWW from #6.
Love your Christmas stocking and the bunting, can almost smell the casserole too... though it is a little too warm for eating casserole here... I am melting... gorgeous squares you have created and yes, they are lovely and bright!!
Super bunting as usual and those quilting squares are lovely - bursting with colour as requested. Can co plenteous understand the need to hibernate, we have snow forecast this week and I've only just put my sandals away!!!

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas.. Okay, well maybe not quite yet, but that stocking will make someone very happy in 62 days (but who's counting!). I love your writing style I feel like I'm chatting with you!
Happy Woyww!

You are the bunting goddess! Every time I make some bunting for my dollhouse re-do, I always always think of you! It's so cold here right now, that reading about your beef casserole in the oven makes me feel all warm and toasty! I'd go home this afternoon and put a casserole in the oven, but I have the tap dancing class. I'm quite a hoot in there. You know what's so cute is, while my mom was in the hospital she asked me about my blog, and I was telling her all about it and the friends I've made, and I told her about you and all the wonderful things you make and now she asks me about you and how you're doing! Precious. She's a huge Downton fan too--she's just living for the season premiere here on January 5th! Hugs soul sister. Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #35
Ooh, what a cosy post! I love what you did with that stocking and the description of your day was lovely right down to the detail of the yummy casserole! Ah, Narnia at the back of your wardrobe that takes me back to childhood Christmases cosily tucked up reading about Aslan and Mr Tumnus. Doesn't colour make one happy? I love the fabrics on this post - so full of life! Have a great WOYWW! Julie Ann xx #28
My goodness that was a productive Sunday! Love the quilt squares, and the stocking is very Christmassy :-)

Good day, Jan. That stocking is just lovely - but then, I am biased, being a Christmasoholic!! Your post is so full of fun, and colour - it's great. I imagine life will begin to get crazier for you soon if you are in a band - all those Christmas carols to dust off! Enjoy. Our friends in Ratby band will be up to their ears in concerts and performances very soon.

Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou.
Email with snail mail is coming.
Von.
You are hardly hibernating, my dear LLJ! I think you might win the prize each week for most productivity!! Loved all your photos, as ever, because all those wonderful designs and colors scream HAPPY! That stocking is so professional and beautiful! If you ever do hit a lull ... oh hahahaha, sorry, are you gasping for air? Sorry. I'll not mention it again for ten years, at least, when you might be slowing down a bit. Happy WOYWW and have a wonderful week!! Thanks for stopping by to see me! Hugs, Darnell #12
Hi there LLJ,
I love the sound of the stew simmering in the oven! I enjoy cooking in the winter time. It makes the house feel so nice and cozy! Although cooking for one can be a trick. Usually my neighbors get half of whatever I've made.
I have a confession. I bought myself some fat quarters..... not sure exactly what I'm going to try to make yet.
Not doing WOYWW this week.
Hugs,
Kay
Yes to hibernation! I love those bright fabrics - the dotty one reminds me of the illustrations in the Hungry Caterpillar! That little stocking is just darling xx
