WE FADE TO GREY, FADE TO GREY......
(a bit of 80's nostalgia for you!)

I ran out of coloured yarn for the cowls...  Sacre bleu et quel domage....... so I had to go hunting in The Cupboard.  You know..The Cupboard that we all possess somewhere. It has been through various incarnations..stuffed with toys, schoolbooks, college files and which is now home to my paraphernalia. Anyway, I didn't have much chunky yarn, apart from this.....

It was weird not having multi coloured yarn in my hands but it's made quite an elegant cowl (even if it is bogey coloured!!)

Phew...saved by the Scandinavian colours of some Christmas bunting I dug out from last year's box in order to send off some charity stuff...

More Christmassy fabric...I'm using up me stash, girls, hope you're proud of me, lol!

And more fab-u-lous Christmas cards for the refuge from Mrs D (Left) and Twiglet (right). Thank you so much, ladies, I really appreciate your generosity.

At last...some desk action!  Here is the bright and beautiful Alaskan husky fabric that Sara J sent me (she was clearing out her stash and thought I could use it!)  I have been making doggy bandanna scarves - two sizes no less.

Larger:
Beautifully modelled by my mate's gorgeous spaniel, Riley!

Smaller:  Modelled by Rune, who also does Meerkat impressions. He's one talented pooch!

When my brother and I were clearing out Dad's house, we found some old textiles, crocheted doilies made by my grandmother and this.....
Made by my fair hands, aged 7. My mum must have kept it all those years, bless her.  That makes it 45 years old! Positively antique...sigh....pass me the fluffy slippers and embrocation.......

Gorgeous scandinavian fabrics for your bunting, I really must try to make some fabric bunting, only ever seem to make paper ones!
Super cute doggy bandanas, your models are so cute!
That is fantastic that your mum kept your handy work, I would love to have some of mine, alas, long gone! I remember making something just like this!

I've found needlework that my gran saved that I made her as a child. In fact, I'm using the table runner now! I love the pooch bandanas, they'd be great at festivals. The bunting is gorgeous and yes, I have one of those cupboards!!! Hugs. Pam#41

Not sure what you saw that looked like an upturned shell, as i can't spot it in the photo you meant... but I did buy some oddly shaped buttons so maybe it was that... Helen 14

Morning Jan.
I think that grey cowl is extremely fashionable. Not bogey coloured at all.
But what do you mean 'cupboard'? My whole 'study' and attic are repositories of those things of which a dear friend would say' It will come in handy if it is never used.

Wow - what talent you had, even at 7 years of age - and so nice that's its been kept safe all these years. The cowl looks lovely - they're all the rage in the shops this year I've noticed.

What a fab show and tell today Jan. I must say I am an expert on bogies and the twins have never, as yet, presented me with one that colour :-) I love it and am certain it will go with many outfits.

Love all the colours on your desk, Jan, it's always a riot, except the cowl, but grey can be lovely too but I'm with you on the brights missus!!
You must have been born talented, that embroidery is gorgeous, no wonder you Mum kept it. I've asked my Mum about sewing bits I made at school but she just changes the subject...says a lot!
Hope last week went OK

That is amazing that you made that when you were only 7! How sweet your mother kept it put away. I just love getting vintage textiles from family--even vintage supplies like when I inherited my mother-in-law's Singer sewing machine. All the drawers in its cabinet were filled with thread spools, bobbins, patterns, zippers, measuring tapes and sewing goodies. Very old stuff! The doggy scarves are soooo cute. I want you to know, that when I decided to make bunting for my dollhouse, I totally thought of you! I think it adds so much to the cuteness too. Have a great week. Hugs soul sister! Sandy Leigh #3

Awwww, the doggies in their scarves are adorable.

Don't you know that grey is a very trendy color right now? Don't call your cowl bogey colored, call it "silver mist" or something like that. :-D

Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier and for the kind comments.

LOL! I love your models and I hope they were reimbursed for their time. I like your single colored cowl as it will go with so much. Bogey is such a pretty color. hee hee. Fun buntings in the other photos and yes we are so pleased you are using up stash. Although you are kind of making the rest of us look bad.

Hi Jan, love your canine models ... and I'd love to see Rune's Meerkat impression. Great to see all your lovely Christmassy stash being used up too - when I'm settled once more I'm going to have a bash at making some bunting for my great-grandchildren. Grey is not my colour of choice either but for some folk it is the epitome of elegance so I'd say your bogey coloured cowl is going to be snapped up :)) And that is a gorgeous selection of cards. Sadly, the upheaval going on here at the moment means I can't make any this year, but count me in for next year ... I should be unpacked by then :) Have a great week. Elizabeth x #49

PS: moving day is 15th November - just 6 short weeks away :(

Oh, my garsh, where to start, LLJ? Boogey cowls (not boogey! That's a lovely charcoal gray neutral to go with everything!) Stunning Christmas fabrics and cards and awe-mazing doggie bananas. I mean bandanas! Just look at Rune's tail go with happiness! And lastly, how precious is your sweet sampler, tenderly saved all these years? Sigh. Thank you for sharing and Happy WOYWW! Ooh Jan, Elegant cowl! You'll be giving that one away then, lol!!! I see it's bunting time again, I recognise some of those fabrics you're about to cut in to! Love the dog bandana's and the dogs too, great names! Amazing to find the sampler, even more amazing, my mam has one almost exactly the same made by my fair hands at around the same age! I still remember learning embroidery at school and that backing fabric too!

I love that grey cowl! I remember wearing all black and grey clothes in the eighties... 'new wave' they called it. I LOVE that you called me a 'youngster' on my fiftieth b'day... great title that is! Happy, much belated, woyww and a hug from Holland. Marit #74

As someone who adores grey, that cowl is definitely NOT bogey-coloured :)
Thanks for stopping by - sorry, I'm late getting back. So interesting about the effects of the moon at school - I think both new and full moons have strong energies, so it's interesting to read that others have similar experiences.
Have a fun, crafty week :)

I love the cowl, but then I like grey too. And the r&w bunting looks great. I find varied shades of red work better than say shades of blue. But the star of the post is your saved (heirloom? :)) piece from the attic. So sweet and shows your talent from a very young age.

I am determined to get some visits in before tomorrow!

Happy (late AGAIN!) WOYWW!
