WOYWW 191

IT'S GOOD TO TOUCH
THE GREEN, GREEN GRASS OF HOME....

What a difference a week makes...
What's that weird colour?? Oh, yes.....green! Haven't seen that for a while. Unfortunately the same can't be said for the moles who seem to have made a fairy ring!

What has been on my workdesk this week then?

I made a couple of bags in which to put the quilts for the LillyBo appeal.

I LOVE making tote bags and hadn't done any for ages, so I really enjoyed doing this! Incidentally, thanks for all the info regarding 'to bias or not to bias' and the noble art of quilting to secure the batting..it all helped! I machined around the animals..which was quite easy in the end. I know it's not as 'pure' as hand quilting but that ain't never gonna happen.....NEVAAAAAAR *grin*

Mary-Anne gave me the heads up on an iPad beanbag which was simple to make - I used some of the new Sale fabric!
Thanks, Mary Anne - great idea :)

I also got some of my stash out to have a look for the next quilts - this one WILL be patchwork!

Greens and pinks...I'm really looking forward to summer after playing with these beauties :)

Other bits of fat quarters and scraps...not sure about this lot together but I'll change a bit of this and swap a bit of that...bit like my cooking really! Recipes?? Pah.....

And finally, three things to make you smile!

1. My tea light glass globes. I spotted these the other day..a storm had just passed over and the sun peeked through and it just lit the globes up!

2. I spotted these in a shop and snapped up two for the WOYWW Crop raffle!
3. No matter how small the knee/cubby hole, a cat will always find a way....
Have a GREAT week.....see ya!! xx

I love reading your blog, and learning all the lovely thing you show us. It is great to see the green grass again, or the muddy expanse (we have two dogs). I got a real giggle about your moles, thinking of the Jasper Carrott sketch about the moles and how to get rid of them. Have fun. xx Maggie #(no number yet)

Happy WOYWW Jan

You have been ultra busy this week, maybe the snow is a good thing as it gives you the chance to sew gorgeous goodies!

I thought your globes were actually lite, that sun must of been belting down :)

Have a good week xx

Love the iPad bean bag idea. I laughed at your comment about never doing hand sewing round the animals...mine would end at never doing sewing...full stop! Bella #35

Happy WOYWW. I must get on and sort out some fabric to attempt to make my very first quilt ever. I also need to remind myself how to use my sewing machine! Love the photos - those tea light globes are so pretty. Ali x #34

Such a super post with lots of loveliness! Love the quilts and the bags! Super fabrics but you always have an eye for picking fab ones. Love the rings.. watch out, there'll be a rush now to get there to be in the draw!
Those dastardly moles! I've seen the holes but never the moles... have you?
I'm going to make some of those Mary Anne Ipad rest thingys too!

love the cocktail rings, and I'm always saying I'm going to make a bean bag for my tom tom (don't like it on the window screen, tend to just listen to the commands) maybe this weekend... Hope all is well in the Land of the Lunch Lady,

Quilts galore this week (beginnings of one on my desk as well) and if I'm nervousness about starting to cut up for the squares how on earth am I going to make a bag as well?

A great post as always, Jan. I thought you had had an elephant in your garden!!! Naughty moles!!
Love the bag for your quilt and the new colours are gorgeous. I really must get myself organsied.
The photos certainly made me smile, especially puss in his cubby hole.

We don't see a lot of green out here either Jan, but we mostly see brown, dry dust! I love the beauty of untouched snow, the first day it falls, but the novelty soon wears off. We can see white caps on the distant mountains, and that is enough for me.
I love all the little quilts that are being made for the Lillybo project. Folk are so kind in the way they respond to any need. I am overwhelmed by the response world-wide to my knit for Africa project.
Love the cat too. they are the supreme example of how to be comfortable anywhere!

Hi Jan - I love that bean bag idea! All I need now is an iPad!!!! One day ;-) Is there going to be another WOYWW crop? Don't you just love how comfortable a cat makes himself. We have a great photo of our cat Bart who sat himself in a box that was way too small and yet he looked perfectly snug! Happy WOYWW to you from Helen 55

Don't the fabrics just cheer you when you see them! In the shop they looked fun, but made up they really are lovely. Like the bean bag, your Ipad looks erm...laid back!!

Quilt bag and ipad bean bag are fab. But, I am absolutely struck speechless by your green yard and the Moles.... holey moley they actually do wreck your lawn. I suppose after all that snow they had to come up for air at some point.

Quilt bags are great. Love the pic of your cat, how right you are. I knew my Ambrose had not gone outside on Tuesday afternoon, I looked all over the house for him- could not find him anywhere. Not in any of his usual spots, nor in the places he knows he's not allowed!Suddenly, a head looks up, and meows-out of the bag of hessian shopping bags waiting to go back into the car. The cat is totally crazy, I swear.Have a great day, Hugs, Shaz xx #69

Glad you said you had moles. I'd been wondering if a stray cow had invaded your garden!

Seeing a lot of fabric business on the blogs today, all very inspirational.

Super sewing going on there as usual - Happy WOYWW! Hugs, Di xx

We have a lot of green grass here too, but the problem for us is that we really shouldn't have! Bloody moles, damn nuisance they are! Love all those fabric scraps, really does look like Spring, I have a flowery Spring card on my desk today, must be catching. I thought you were holding those beaded thingys until I enlarged the photo, now I see they're rings. Pity I won't be there (again) but I will be in the area in early May... so you never know!!

Oh my goodness--I am all about fairy rings made by moles!!! You truly are my soul sister, I swear. Now, let's not even say how over the moon people will be at the idea of making an ipad bean bag! Good Lord that's brilliant! We need one for phones too! Those rings are so glam, if I'm going to Skype into the crop, maybe I should send you something from Missouri for the raffle! Maybe a Michaels goodie? Anyhoo...I'm so glad you can see your yard!! And now, guess what, I was just walking outside and it suddenly started to skizzle (that is snow mixed with drizzle). I am so over winter!! Hugs dearest! Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #104

It is so lovely to see the grass again after snow isn't it. Especially where we live, our grass is covered up for around 4 months, it has been snowing here for the past 4 days so topping it up nicely! I had forgotten about the mole hills, we used to get lots of them when we lived in Scotland! Nice to see them again, but not in my garden!lol
Gorgeous makes as always, love the pretty bag!

TWO QUILTS arrived safe and sound today and you have made a lovely job of them. DH was so thrilled with the totes too. I left a message for CHICs to take them in... I've got Annette's and my first one here so they'll soon be with the children. Just got to sew on the labels tonight.
I really am thrilled!

The snow was lovely while it lasted, but it is so much better getting around without it having to be on your bum! Well, that's what I say. Brilliant idea to make tote bags for the Lilybo quilts. Quilting is rather beyond me, but perhaps I could make some totes to help out instead. Lovely to see all that colourful fabric laid out and good luck with the quilt. Have a great week:) Lucy #23 x

Thanks for the fun post and great photos~ your tote is awesome. What a great idea for the ipad pillow too. I didn't have a camera close but mine jumped into any empty tiny drawer and was napping while I was figuring out this computer problem. They are so special!!! Weather..it is more unpredictable than the cats. Green, green grass is most welcome. Enjoy WOYWW, #149 Sylvia

Glad to see the snow is going, however irritating that it revealed those bastardly moles. Oh, was that another typo?! It must be heaven, LLJ, to just be able to whip up a couple of tote bags when you need them! Thanks for the ending smile photos; your rings are fabbO!! And thanks for coming by to see me, even tho I didn't make the tour today! Have a wonderful week, if I don't see you before! xxoo DJ

Fab bag there Jan - good luck with your real patchwork. I enjoyed doing mine but it's not my strength - too much accuracy needed and I am a bit of a random girl!. Saw a link to this tutorial today

A bit time consuming with the machine quilting through each piece but I loved the basic quilt as you go concept. x Jo

Cute idea for the ipad holder, too. My husband needs one of those - he uses a round pillow. :-) Thank you for stopping by my blog. April #101
