IT'S JUST LIKE STARTING OVER!!
Happy 2012 everyone - Blwyddyn Newydd Dda for those of you reading this in Wales!  May this year be healthy, happy and exciting :)
After a very quiet New Year's Eve - we should have been partying but couldn't cos of illness - it's back to the normal humdrum routine from tomorrow. Back to school/university/sewing, delete as applicable! It's been an incredibly quiet Christmas for our family - we haven't been anywhere or done anything much..and it was FAB not doing it, if you see what I mean!!

This is a scheduled post. Julia popped over today (Tues afternoon) to bring some wood offcuts from Mr D to give to G3 for his woodwork GCSE project. There is now a heap of beautiful oak bits and pieces in my garage, like a huge jigsaw to be assembled. Have fun with that little lot, Rhys!

But I don't like to see her idle (!) so while she was here, I put her to work drawing circles onto some fabric scraps. I was cutting out while we chatted. The semi circles are going to end up being flower petals for corsages or bag charms. Pretty AND it uses up my scraps, love it!!
I had a bit of a splurge before Christmas and bought a whole load of toning fabrics...

I'm going to have fun with that little lot!! Think I'll make some more of the bread baskets with ribbon tie corners, they were quite successful and some doorstops and pegbags maybe. We shall see where inspiration strikes!

My friend Lynne and I both love knitting - she's so clever that she recognised the yarn I was using in last week's post! She found this amazing site all about radical knitting, here's my favourite pic from it..

Isn't this AWESOME!!!! Try cutting/pasting this address to see more...

I hope that works, I just cut and pasted it from our Facebook page. There are such talented people out there...*sigh*....

I'm off to knit me a Harley Davidson, I may be some time!!! See ya :D

We enjoyed a quiet Christmas to. Although some wozzack decided to have an open party last Friday and therefore spent 2 days cooking...... We have one more lot of people visiting this Friday (but the decorations are all down) with our presents from Scotland. I am hoping that I will have time to start my crafting mojo for 2012 tomorrow when T goes to nursery. I have been given an old Riccar sewing machine so I just need a fabric raid somewhere (oh and I have your address now.........) only joking apparently we have a fabric warehouse in nearby Leicester called Kissco :)

Love the fabric. I actually gasped out loud as I thought one of the pieces was October Afternoon, it was only after I looked at the large picture I recognised it as a Clarke nad Clarke(?)
Can't decide today if I should sew or make cards!
As for knitting...... I'm no good at it, although I used to say that about sewing and all it took was a workshop in Oct 2010 and I haven't stopped!
Happy New Year

Hi Jan, that bike is awesome! If my husband thought he could knit a Harley D, the needles would be clicking away by now :)) You choose fabrics in exactly the same way as I choose paper and, yes, wouldn't my piece of paper look fabulous as fabric. Thanks for visiting earlier. All the best, Elizabeth x #60

you are one of those talented people.

I have sat here a good ten minutes and thought - where the living daylights Did I Put the Stuff the WAS on the desk,

and I realised my problem - (and you should be a therapist cos you ask the right questions)

the reason I LOSE EVERYTHING the very moment I tidy up is that I do not pay ANY attention to where I move things to, so my brain goes to where things WERE not where things ARE,

next time I find everything and it ends up out on the desk and I then tidy up I will do a map...

nah

I usually have no idea what I have done...with anything

Could you just knit me a little convertible when you're done, LLJ, shouldn't take long and it'll just do me for nipping into town!!
Radical knitting!!! that's a new one on me. Have you seen the huge knitting they do on C&C making carpets and the like, amazing stuff.
I'm glad you spent Christmas just the way you wanted too, that's what it's all about. I felt like a real party pooper all day on New Years Eve as we were just staying at home but in the end it was a perfect way to bring in the New Year.
Happy New Year to you and your lovely family, I hope it's a good one for you.

Wow LLJ, a knitted motor bike! I don't know about radical knitting - I think that's X-treme knitting lol!! I'll have a look at the link for more in a mo.

Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog. Sheba, my new lean mean machine, will cut virtually anything that will go underneath her blade - card as thick as mounting board, foam, felt, fabric, leather, even thin metal... She will also cut extremely small and intricate, and she will also draw, emboss and engrave. That's all locked-in potential until I learn how to let it out lol! She's one powerful black kitty. Watch this space for the great team I'm hoping she and I will make, creating lots of great stuff this year I hope!

Happy New Year, and happy WOYWW,

Hi, I'm commenting from my upstairs computer as I'm working, my Ipad equivalent thingy is not liking commenting these last few weeks. I can't believe how fast christmas and new year was, it seemed like a real whirlwind, even though it was rather quite during the new year. Hope your feeling better. I'm so glad the christmas card surprised you, you made me feel so happy with your comments and I knew you liked it so much I just had to send it. I really love the market you went to before christmas, the colours and fesitviness (not sure thats a word lol) were amazing. I love knitting and occasionally have a go while watching tv, I'm trying to learn how to crochet, my attempts so far are dismal, but I'm saving them all just so I can show them when I get the hang of it. I'm only learning because I refuse to buy the little crochet flowers from craft suppliers, as I reckon I could do them myself, by the time I learn they will be out of fashion.. Love the pics of the tradional New Years eves, I bet the risk assessment for that was interesting lol. Wow that knitted bike is amazing, and yes there are amazing people out there with fantastic talent, but believe me your one of them, I love your sewing and amazed what you can do. I love the gifts you received, Lisa is very clever, I'm amazed with her paint fusion techniques, and of course we all know how brilliant Julia is. I'm so glad I've managed to catch up with you finally. Hope 2012 brings you great health and happiness for you and your family. Take care. Kezzy xxx

Have now linked your comments back to the Knitting Relay blog. It wasn't clever, I've just used the same wool. I love multi-coloured wool, it's just brilliant how the patterns emerge.

What a fun post, Jan, even though you didn't go anywhere over the holidays. I love the Harley. I would say you have good taste!

I want to thank you for the lovely Christmas "bunting." I used it during Christmas. I even took photos, but I downloaded the memory card to a computer that got a virus and died. Mine was already DEAD, so this one was a surprise. All I have are the memories of Christmas and an awesome banner/bunting that I will use year after year. Thank you again.

Now that I am finally back online, I want to wish you a belated Happy New Year and Christmas. Thanks so much for making this a lovely Christmas for me.
